Discover Chicago

From the moment you arrive in Chicago, you’ll understand why this city is one of the leading destinations for conventions and meetings. Combining big city culture with Midwestern hospitality, Chicago is home to world-class restaurants, award-winning theaters, celebrated museums, beautiful waterfront views and dozens of historic districts to explore. This dynamic city, paired with the largest convention center in North America, makes Chicago the perfect place to relax and conduct business — all in one trip.

We’ve partnered with Choose Chicago to create a microsite just for DDW attendees to explore what the city has to offer.

A world-class destination known for its impressive architecture, first-rate museums, brilliant chefs, and massive brewing scene, it’ll take several repeat visits to get through your list of must-dos.

Whether you’re flying or driving into Chicago, transportation options are limitless.

  • Airports: Chicago boasts two first-class airports that bring over 100 million visitors to the Windy City each year. One of the busiest airports in the country, O’Hare International airport is about 16 miles from downtown Chicago and is served by about 50 airlines. A mere 10 miles from downtown, Midway International Airport offers value-oriented leisure and business travel to over 60 destinations.
  • Public Transportation: The Chicago region has plenty of public transportation options that include buses, trains, water taxis and bicycles to get you around the city. The “L” train (short for “elevated”) serves 145 stations throughout the city of Chicago and neighboring communities.
  • Ground Transportation: Taxis are abundant and easily accessible from the convention center, airport, major hotels and downtown locations. Taxi fares range from $40-50 from O’Hare airport and $30-40 from Midway. Chicago is also a ride-share friendly city for services like Uber and Lyft.
  • Car Rentals: There are numerous rental car agencies throughout the region, with several located at both O’Hare and Midway airports.
For U.S. residents: please review the Real ID Act regarding boarding federally regulated commercial aircraft. Depending on your state of residence, you may need to provide a second form of identification at the airport. You must use a REAL ID or another acceptable form of ID to fly starting May 3, 2023.
