Travel Arrangements

Whether you’re flying or driving into Washington, D.C., transportation options are limitless.

  • Airports: Washington, D.C. is serviced by three major airports. The closest to the actual district, Ronald Reagan National Airport, is just a 10-minute drive from city lines and is accessible from its own Metro stop. Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is accessible via an Amtrak train route to DC, and Washington Dulles International Airport is located 26 miles from DC in suburban Virginia.
  • Public Transportation: The Metro is a popular, convenient and affordable way to get around Washington, D.C., as well as suburban Virginal and Maryland. The Walter E. Washington Convention Center has its own dedicated station, serviced by the Yellow and Green lines.
  • Ground Transportation: Taxis are abundant and easily accessible from the convention center, airport, major hotels and downtown locations. Washington, D.C. is also a ride-share friendly city for services like Uber and Lyft.
  • Car Rentals: There are numerous rental car agencies throughout the region. All the major rental companies have locations throughout Washington, D.C.

For U.S. residents: please review the Real ID Act regarding boarding federally regulated commercial aircraft. Depending on your state of residence, you may need to provide a second form of identification at the airport. You must use a REAL ID or another acceptable form of ID to fly starting Oct. 1, 2020.
